Battery Energy Storage System (BESS)

A Battery Energy Storage System (BESS) is a form of technology that stores electricity generated from renewable and non-renewable sources and releases it when demand is high or when generation is low.
By doing this, a BESS helps balance the supply and demand of electricity, ensuring a steady, reliable energy supply.
How it works
A BESS uses lithium-ion batteries to store energy. When electricity is plentiful (e.g., on sunny or windy days, or in the morning), the system stores it.
Then, during peak demand periods (like in the evenings, the stored energy is released into the grid.

A BESS can be combined with any power source - renewable and non-renewable to provide backup during times of high energy usage.

Benefits
Cost Savings
Helps reduce energy costs by storing low-cost energy during off-peak hours and using it during peak demand periods.
Backup Power
During times of high usage, or during power outages, a BESS provides a reliable backup power source.
Environment
A BESS reduces the need for fossil fuel power generation by smoothing out the peaks and lows of renewable energy sources

Grid Stability
By storing and releasing energy as needed, a BESS can Improve the stability and reliability of the electricity network.
