Beryl Solar Farm & BESS

Project Status Solar Farm: OPERATING

Project Status BESS: IN DEVELOPMENT

Banpu Energy Australia owns and operates the Beryl Solar Farm which helps power the Sydney Metro Rail Link.

The Beryl Solar Farm Modification is the addition of a Battery Energy Storage System (BESS). This involves the installation of lithium-ion batteries with a capacity of up to 110 MW with up to four hours storage duration.

Project Details

To support the reliability and security of the national electricity market, large-scale batteries are becoming increasingly important to store excess solar and wind for use during times of high demand.

The batteries for the Beryl Solar Farm BESS would be housed in units similar in appearance to shipping containers. It is proposed that they will be a modification to existing solar farm.
